Introduction to LCA modelling: theoretical background and practical exercises using openLCA software
Scope
This seminar of 8 academic hours at the Hellenic Open University will be focused on the presentation of the LCA methodology according to ISO 14044 as tool for sustainability assessment. The emphasis will be put practical activities dedicated to LCA modelling with OpenLCA software. The activities will help students to understand how LCA can help to explore and find sustainable solutions for different products and decrease related environmental impacts trough different eco-design scenarios.
Presenter
Dr. Sc. Ing. Maksims Feofilovs is a senior researcher at the Riga Technical University, Latvia (RTU IESE). His main research areas include Life Cycle Analysis, System Dynamics Modelling and Urban Resilience. Author of several scientific publications cited in SCOPUS. Has experience in international scientific projects, including novel LCA tool development, consulting of companies regarding their sustainability and eco-design strategies. He is leading the practical works in LCA study courses at Riga Technical University.
